The CRDM student blog is enormously proud to announce that Meagan Kittle Autry successfully defended her dissertation on Thursday. Dr. Kittle Autry recently joined the NC State Graduate School as the inaugural Director of Thesis and Dissertation Support Services.
Her dissertation project, entitled “Genre Change Online: Open Access and the Scientific Research Article,” was directed by Carolyn R. Miller and committee members Ann M. Penrose, William J. Kinsella, and David Rieder. The project explored whether or not open access publishing seems to be changing the genre of the scientific research article.
With her intimate knowledge of this important genre, Meagan will help NC State graduate students (many of them from STEM disciplines) complete high quality thesis and dissertations in a timely manner. She knows something about that, having completed her degree in three years, defending just months after becoming ABD.
Congratulating Meagan on her fine dissertation wouldn’t be complete without one more acknowledgement. Rumor has it she was among the first NC State Ph.D. students, and the first in CHASS, to deposit with a Creative Commons license in place of the standard NC State copyright page.
As a fellow Canadian, and on behalf of the student blog, well done on all accounts eh!
